Summer Days “Laetha Samhraidh”
Summer Days “Laetha Samhraidh”
I came across this scene when I was walking a route around Braad/Carrickfin that is very popular around this region of Donegal. Some critics have said the Caravans are a distraction to the beauty of the landscape but for me, in this particular case, I think it adds to it and that is why I was urged to pull out the phone ( as i often do on my rambles ) and snap the image. When Painting from a photograph, it is true, you loose all shapes as it appears flat so I try my best to get them in, nothing worse than a flat painting, you need something to pull you in and in this case i think the island of Gola in the distance achieves that.
I adore where I live and every day there is a new scene with our constantly changing weather, the mundane can take a life of it’s own.
I hope you enjoy looking at this painting, I have to admit I am very proud of it.
